The city of Lormont has chosen not to restore the château du Bois fleuri and to entrust it to Muriel Rodolosse so she may transform it into an artwork.
The artist replaced each of the 63 openings with a painting.
The Mirabilia artwork appears in the window frames, sometimes behind a curtain. By revealing itself gradually, detail by detail, layer by layer, the work is a mystery that can be discovered whilst walking in the park.
Mirabilia is the ultimate metamorphosis of the château into a pictorial mirror, staging tales from the history of the building in an invasive nature: views anticipate the future of the ruin, representing penetrating openings, as if the roof and the back walls had collapsed. Elsewhere old parts of the Neo-gothic château intertwine with a more contemporary vision of the venue. By building a timely architecture between past, present and future, the artist creates a complex world where different spaces and temporalities merge.
