Le Pavillon
Le Pavillon, the international creative residency proposed by the École supérieure des Beaux-arts de Bordeaux— EBABX, has been invited by the CAPC to present an exhibition of the results of the artists’ year-long research.
The CAPC — an impressive place both architecturally and historically — has its own genius loci, and the Pavillon’s young artists have risen to the challenge.
The gallery has been separated into three individual spaces for the occasion. Each space presents one of the three propositions by artists Anaïs Hay, Seunghee Choe and Laure Subreville. This exhibition encompasses singular works created by emerging artists, demonstrating a commitment which goes beyond a simple presentation of post-graduate work, extending to and involving the Aquitaine region. These works resonate with surprising influences: shamanism, initiation rites, and the force of nature erupting in a technological world.
At the heart of the exhibition, one of the spaces has been dedicated to a group work, which reflects both the Japan adventure and an accident, or intentional contingency. A residency is not a smooth path without pitfalls. Here the question of displacement and what constitutes a work space weathers a rough patch, and the installation recreates the ensuing sparks.
