On the occasion of JOSEPH BEUYS’ 100TH BIRTHDAY!
Joseph Beuys, the man with the hat, the felt and the ‘fat corner’. Thirty years after his death he feels like a visionary who was, and still is, ahead of his time.
From previously unpublished audio and video footage Veiel creates an associative, porous portrait which, like the artist himself, opens up spaces for ideas rather than proclaiming statements. Beuys boxes, chats, lectures, explains art to a dead hare and asks: ‘Do you want to instigate a revolution without laughter?’ But we also experience the man, the teacher and the Green Party candidate.
The documentary presented in competition at the Berlinale 2017 and honoured with the German Film Award in two categories (Best Documentary, Best Editing) is offered for streaming by the Goethe-Institut Bordeaux in cooperation with the Bakery Art Gallery.
The film will be available online from September 10 to 14 (from 00.01am to 11.59pm) on our new platform: https://bordeaux.goethe-on-demand.de/movies/beuys
